I love bicycles! When I'm not fixing them you'll likely find me out and about in the countryside around Nottingham, possibly with Notts CTC or maybe just on my own, enjoying the sense of speed, space and freedom a bicycle gives me. My idea of a perfect day would typically involve some bicycles, some friends, some sunny countryside and some good beer. This year I'm hoping to go cycle touring in France with friends and to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats in 9 days - probably on my own, unless I can find someone else mad enough to do it with me!
More than for the pleasure they bring me, I love bicycles because they're a more sustainable form of transport. As a concerned environmentalist I try to limit my impact on the planet where I can. I see getting people out of their cars and on to their bikes as a way to make the world a better place for everyone. More bikes means more safety for fellow cyclists, more fit & healthy people and more smiles. Less cars means less traffic, less accidents, less pollution, less CO2 emissions, less reliance on foreign oil (and the wars fought over it) and more smiles.
I decided to become a mobile bicycle mechanic because I want to help people get back on their bikes and keep them riding long after I've gone. All too often I have seen people put their bikes to one side when they encounter a problem and don't know how to fix it. I know there are lots of bicycles sat in the corners of rooms and garages gathering dust because people don't have the tools, knowledge or time to get them fixed. I want to help by making the process of getting your bike back on the road as simple as possible. Just give me a call and I'll come and fix it! I'm also willing and eager to teach people how to carry out simple repairs and how to care for a bicycle so that it will become a faithful companion for many many miles!
